Greer RB Foster wears heart on sleeve, cultivates his own faith-based clothing line

On the field, Greer running back Zy Foster is strictly business.

Off the field, he runs one.

In early 2025, the now-junior Yellow Jacket RB and OLB came up with an idea. It was a concept for a clothing line that blended two of Foster’s biggest loves: fashion and his faith.

“You see a lot of people wearing these cool-looking clothes, but a lot of what’s on those clothes and what that clothing stands for doesn’t really represent me and what I believe in,” said Foster. “So a little over a year ago, I asked myself, ‘Why don’t I just make my own clothing brand for me and others who want what they wear to represent their faith?”

The result? After an extensive design process, Foster founded his own Christian-based clothing brand. He named it Amen Wear. 

Foster’s Amen Wear line sells clothing for both men and women, with items like T-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants, jackets, tank tops, compression shirts, crop tops, shorts, sport jackets, zip-up polos, and more.

Foster has received and fulfilled orders from friends, classmates, and others in and around the Greer community, slowly but surely growing his brand while simultaneously spreading his passion for the Gospel.

“I just wanted to come up with something where myself and people who love Jesus like me could represent the Gospel when they walk out the door,” said Foster. “That’s the main goal.

“When I first started, I had like two orders from people. Now, it feels like at least one person is coming up to me every week, asking for this piece [of clothing] or that piece. It’s awesome.”

Around campus and at Greer football practice, Foster is rarely seen without a smile. He unquestionably has a joy that radiates most everywhere he goes and to everyone who meets him. He credits that to his strong faith.

But it hasn’t always been easy, Foster says. 

“I’ve been saved since basically when I was a kid, but my faith really grew after my seventh grade year,” said Foster. “Things happened in my life, and I was in a really depressive stage. I struggled with wanting to self-harm, and things like that. 

“But the more I read into the Word, I felt God. I felt Him working in my life. He brought me out of that stage. And I really owe so much to Him, because I also feel like he’s helped put me in this role in football that I have now.”

Foster’s role with Greer football has been slowly growing, and after a performance last week against Union County that saw the junior RB go for 102 rushing yards and a touchdown, it’s primed to blossom even further. He’s part of a talented backfield, working behind and alongside senior Greer RB Calvin McCoy.  

“We’ll probably roll Zy even more at running back this season after [his performance vs, Union County],” said Greer head football coach Will Young. “He had a really good night. He’s a hard worker, and he’s earned it.”

“I’ve known Calvin [McCoy] since I was in middle school. I’ve learned a lot from him,” said Foster. “Coming into this role last year and working behind him, it was a big jump. But I’ve come to really accept and appreciate the role. I know at the end of the day, it’s about fighting for Greer and fighting for the brothers next to me every week.” 

Foster’s role in Greer’s offense will likely increase as the season goes on.  

Interest in his business seems to be doing exactly the same. 

“I’ve been getting a lot of questions about the clothing and a lot of requests,” said Foster, smiling. “But the next drop is going to probably come out before the end of September. So be ready.”
