The Greer Farmers Market will be back in the park this Sunday for its Harvest Finale — the last of the weekly summer market series.

This season marks the 10th anniversary of the market. According to Director Maggie Blair, the market’s growth was particularly noticeable this year, with foot traffic almost doubling.

“It's been a great season,” Blair said. “This is our 10th year in Greer, so we really wanted to go all out, and we did … It was just really great to see the community all come out and join us.”

In 2024, Blair says Greer Farmers Market attracted around 500 people per market. For this past season, that number is closer to 1,000. This season also saw several new vendors, with each market featuring 40-50.

“Everyone knows Greer is growing,” Blair said. “A lot more people are moving in. So it's fun to see the foot traffic expand. It's fun to see people who have just moved in come out and learn more about Greer through our market and meet people.”

In addition to the town’s changes and growth, the Greer Farmers Market has undergone many changes, too. This is the first year markets have taken place on Sundays, which Blair says was very successful.

The Market was also able to give away five-dollar vouchers to children every Sunday for fruits, vegetables, eggs and honey through its new Healthy Kids program. Some notable programming this year included the Peach Cookoff in July, and a sold-out Mother’s Day picnic event.

Looking forward, Greer Farmers Market has one more Sunday market event before it transitions to its fall schedule. Residents can come out to Greer City Park this Sunday, Aug. 31, for the Harvest Finale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees can enjoy live music from the Greenville-based West End Strings Band, as well as participate in a sack race at noon.

In the fall, Greer Farmers Market will partner with Greer Alive to host three markets. These markets are from 4:30-8 p.m., and will take place on Sept. 26, Oct. 24 and Nov. 14. The October market doubles as a Halloween celebration, with vendors giving out candy. The November market will feature a Chili Cookoff, with sign-ups to compete closing on Oct. 31.
