Our loving grandmother Sarah L. Barnett, 96, went home to be with the Lord on September 5, 2026. Sarah was the daughter of the late Oscar Boyd Stokes and Eunice Marie Lynn Stokes.
Sarah was an independent woman, strong in her faith and a devoted member of Highland Baptist Church; although she was most recently attending Northwood Baptist Church. Sarah was a sports fanatic and loved to be around her friends and family. She was at home in the kitchen, where she was a skilled cook, baker, and canner.
Sarah is survived by a grandson and two granddaughters, Scott Clark (Heather), Mary Bell, and Katie Burns (Anthony); 10 great grandchildren, Cora Richardson (Danny), Eva Clark, Noah Bell, Sarahlyn Burns, Leelanne Burns, Lorelei Bell, Cooper Burns, Declan Bell, Clark Burns, and Emmalou Burns; and 2 great, great grandchildren, David Vickery and Percy Richardson; as well as special extended family, Sybil Clark and Valerie Genia Widener (Stan).
In addition to her parents and siblings, Sarah was predeceased by her daughter, Carol Clark, son-in-law, James Phil Clarl; and great granddaughter, Nora Bell.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 8 at Living Waters Funeral Home & Crematory; 529 Spartanburg Hwy S. Lyman, SC 29365. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Sept. 9 at Few’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
